We're on a tour of the U.S. We picked this place on the advice of Mr. Breakfast's reviews.

The captain crunch french toast is a bit of a misnomer (not super crunchy, or covered in cereal) but does live up to it's hype (we ordered a single piece to taste after reading about it and it was delish).

We ordered pancakes, waffles and the 'irish eggs benny' - with corned beef and potatoes instead of ham. the eggs benny was very tasty, with very very thick hollandaise sauce: it could have been scraped off the bottom of the pot.

Big bonus - real fruit on pancakes and waffles. We think that the pancake/waffle/frenchtoast section of the menu might this restaurant's strong suit, but we would know better if one of us had ordered and omlet.

We had to ask for our coffee refills and the coffee itself wasn't great (acidic and left a bad taste in your mouth - it got worse the more we drank).

The service was friendly and fairly prompt. (we were the only table in the restaurant except for what seemed like a couple of regulars), and we were only checked on once we were almost done our food, but the restaurant was so empty we could have easily spoke up if we wanted something.

Very clean, great colours on the walls - a good dining experience!

Every weekend that I come to Salem I eat at this place, mostly because their breakfast potatoes have endeared themselves to my taste buds. Attentive, friendly service; excellent coffee; wonderful sausages. Nothing to fault, everything to praise. Go ahead to your chain coffee/donut shoppe that's on nearly every street corner...I'll be smiling over the taters!
Blessed be...

Awesome breakfast, one of the best on the North Shore. The BEST home fries with paprika and onions. Try the blueberry pancakes or the Captain Crunch french toast. The best eggs benedict I have ever had in any state or country. Wait staff is very friendly and restaurant is extremely clean.

This restaurant did not appeal to me. As we walked in last Saturday a handwritten, scrawled, and misspelled sign greeted us that said "Breakfast now served all day Saturday's [sic]." We understood this to mean that in addition to the regular menu, breakfast would not stop at 11:00 but would be available all day. What it apparently ACTUALLY meant was that nothing else BUT breakfast would be served on Saturdays. This is an idiotic idea and translates into: Cook is lazy.

The theme for me was "all the elements for success/doing everything wrong." The nice-sized dining area was very poorly (and barely) decorated. The beautiful bay window looking onto the cobbled-brick start of the Pedestrian Mall was obstructed by two large day-glo posters, also scrawled in black magic marker.

Among other things, I got home fries drowned in red seasoning salt which came with the remnants of my boyfriend's corned beef hash attached to them. NOT acceptable vegetarian fare. No attention to detail here.

Our server seemed nervous, maybe new, and it took a very long time to get her attention for anything because she wouldn't look up. The place had a couple of tables of seniors dining, seemingly regulars, seemingly satisfied. Not me.
