BEST biscuits i've ever had! barbec's beer biscuits. place is a dive but worth going to. we live in NY now but when we were in Dallas, my son insisted on me going to get biscuits, I even took a dozen on the plane!

Been living in the area 1972. Came across this cafe not to long ago. Second time I came in. First time the food wasn't done, waitstaff was all right. Came back to give them a second chance. Eggs was overcooked. Should have been om. Sausage was still red on the inside. Brought it to the waitress attention she acted like I should eat it. Finally took it back the sausage was cooked done, and the eggs was runny. So I don't think I'll be back unless they close down all of the breakfast places in this part of town.

I have been to many breakfast places, but never one better than Barbec's. They have the best breakfast, I have had. I love their migas, pancakes, and their OWK (Original With a Kick). My parents used to take my family and I there. Now, I take my kids and wife there. Barbec's is by far the best breakfast place in Texas.

I absolutely do not understand the draw of this place. I have lived in the area for eons and get sucked in to eating here every once in a while, mostly just because it is within walking distance from my house, and each time I am stupified that it gets good reviews and people rave about it.

The service is horrible, the food is usually cold and disgusting. Even the much mentioned beer biscuits aren't anything to write home about - although they are more edible than anything else I've had there. What is with you people? I love a good dive as much as the next guy, but this is just a dive - no "good" about it!

Yuck! Stay away!

Best place to get breakfast in Dallas. Their specials are really inexpensive and their beer biscuits are the best I've ever tasted. Whenever we have guests from out of town we always take them here for at least one breakfast.

Definitely a dive, but the beer biscuits are awesome. Hit and miss with the waitresses, but isn't that true anywhere? When I told ours that my mac & cheese was room temperature, she said, "Let me put that in the microwave for you." Ha!! Oh well, at least she didn't lie about it!

If you havent been to Barbecs lately you need to go. Its all remodeled. Now dont get me wrong its still the same hole in the wall place that makes it great but its looking better !!!
The beer biscuits are wonderful! They are even serving crepes now. Some waitresses are faster than others but they are all nice people working hard to make a living! Breakfast during the week is cheap and good!! Their hash browns are yummy..just have them brown the onions!

the food is pretty bad. they have great difficulty achieving any consistency when turning out easy breakfast staples such as pancakes or scrambled eggs. it is not uncommon to sit down at the counter just when they open and find that the counter is filthy --- covered in crumbs and other food stains. this restaurant was recently shut down by the health department and reopened three days later after it passed inspection.

The daily specials are very reasonably priced. They have an extensive regular menu. It ranges from the double barrel breakfast, which is 2 of everything to Quesadillas. They have something called "The Original" that I can't describe it's so good. The only thing better is "The Original with a Twist". The twist is just salsa but boy is it good. Great pancakes and waffles. Their motto is "Beer biscuits, the only respectalbe way to have beer for breakfast." One of my favorites is the "Hot and Hearty" which is beer biscuits served open face smothered in sausage gravy.

The atmosphere is homey and in need of redecorating but then they might not let someone like me in. On the weekends there's a line out the door but no one goes away because the food is worth the wait. They have been written up numerous times in "D" magazines best of list.
