Bette's is the best breakfast in Berkeley. It gets busy on weekends, but Manfred will get you seated pretty quickly and always makes you smile. Bring a sweater if you're thinking of eating outside cause it can get chilly down there on 4th Street. Great omelettes and other egg dishes, like the one with corned beef hash, and if you're feeling a little depressed, get the soufflé pancake. I think it contains an SSRI (Google it.)

The food was absolutely fantastic. The environment was nice and the people were very friendly. You are sure to have a great time at this place. I will for sure go back there again and again. I hear it gets really crowded on the weekends so be prepared to wait 'cuz its worth it.

Great food; nice people; normal prices; clean; comfortable.

All-around good breakfast (with both healthful and junkie breakfast items alike) and, the menu is pretty creative and has lots of options.

I think this place is great.

I had a really yummy smoked salmon omelette at Bette's last weekend. The eggs were still a bit creamy and punctuated with lots of green onions. And the salmon was perfection, very moist and flavorful, not dried out the way it sometimes gets when cooked. The onion bagel served with was one of the best bagels I've ever had: the crust was crisp and covered with little bubbles (finally! A properly boiled bagel in the Bay Area!) My husband had a tasty Mexican scramble with slightly greasy but still good chorizo. Service was friendly and efficient, and prices were reasonable for the Bay Area. Bette's is definitely worth the wait.

I love Bettes. Whenever i'm in town its the place to go. Though there can be a wait to be seated it's definetly worth it since your food arrives soon after you order. The pancakes are wonderful, especially the blueberry and the omelettes are huevos rancheros are great (and i'm not even a huge fan of eggs!) and the portion sizes are good giving you just enough to eat and share.

At 6:30am, the earliest opening breakfast joint around, Bette's is an institution. The menu is what you'd expect of a diner. Tables are small and close together but that just adds to the fun. Service is solid. Get there later and you expect a wait. Counter service is also available. Have great scones and pancakes. Don't even think about talking real business. Perfect for an early start before bike, hike or shop 4th street or walk near the Bay.
