Honey Nut Clusters

Honey Nut Clusters From: General Mills
Introduced in 1995

This cereal originated as simply Clusters cereal in 1986. We believe the cereal changed names in 1995, but we don't have a firm confirmation of that date.

The cereal's mascot was a squirrel who always tried to get his hands on the "sweet nutty taste".

A cute account of a press tour by the squirrel appeared in the November 13, 1998 Los Angeles Times:

"Celebrity Rodent Bureau: A squirrel that has appeared in TV ads for Honey Nut Clusters cereal began his first media tour this week. According to his publicist, the bushy-tailed creature flew to New York, where he is staying in a hotel suite and being driven around town in a chauffeured van.

"The publicist also issued an official biography for the 3-year-old furball, who stands 10 inches high and is said to have a degree from Nutgers University."

Company Description: Officially created in 1928, General Mills traces it's history back to the 1860's and the ownership of two flour mills. Since then, the company has become the world's 6th largest food company - marketing to over 100 countries... Read on and see all cereals from General Mills

Cereal Rating (out of 5):

Great cereal back in its day and way before they changed the formula eliminating the nuts. I could eat a whole box in one sitting. The formula change could be due to people with nut allergies. What if the reason why it was taken off the shelves in these later years was due to lower sales could of been for those disliking the new formula. Bring it back with the original formula and a label warning containing real nuts.
