Sliwki Migdalowe (Poland)

  • 2 pounds large prunes
  • 1 pound blanched almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
Soak prunes in warm water over night. Cook and cool. Remove pits, fill cavity with almonds, and let drain for a few hours. Make batter of remaining ingredients.

Dip prunes in batter and fry in deep fat. Roll in powered sugar or granulated sugar mixed with nutmeg.


Migdalowa means "Almond" in Polish and this is a recipe for almond-stuffed prunes. Lots of work, good every so often.
