For a memorable breakfast experience at the Hotel Del Coronaro, skip the absurdly expensive Crown Room, and enjoy the delightful breakfeat buffet served in the oceanfront restaurant "Shearwater," on the ground floor of the hotel. You can sit inside or outside. The choices are not nearly as varied or as opulent as in the Crown Room--which is to say, if you want caviar or sushi for breakfast, forget it. But there is as much variety as a reasonable person requires, and the food is notably good. It isn't what I call cheap ($22 at time of writing), but its nothing compared to the cost of the Crown Room. Really, it's a better experience of dining in the Hotel Del Coronado, because you don't have to feel like an idiot for overspending and the ambiance at the Shearwater is--unlike the Crown Room--pleasantly relaxed and casual (although of course upscale casual).
