Pineapple Kolaches

  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon salt
  • 2 packages instant yeast
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 jar pineapple preserves
Scald milk, add butter. In mixing bowl, lightly scramble 1 egg, add sugar and salt; pour in milk, let cool to lukewarm, add yeast and gradually add flour. Knead until smooth, cover and let rise until doubled (1 hour).

Roll into 2 inch balls and place 1 inch apart on baking sheet, cover and let rise 30 minute.

Create depression in middle of roll, place 1 tbsp pineapple preserves into hollow.

Bake at 350 F for 15 to 20 minutes.


This recipe makes 36 rolls. The pineapple preserves can be replaced with a different fruit preserve if desired.
