Sweet Pear Oatmeal

(1 serving)

  • 1/2 cup quick-instant oats
  • dash salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 small ripe pear
Cut pear into small pieces. Combine oats, salt, milk, and water into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 1.5 minutes (or longer, depending on microwave speed). Remove, and add cinnamon, vanilla, and maple syrup. Microwave for an additional minute, stirring at 30-second intervals, until thickened as desired. Add pear, and stir until blended well.

Use more maple syrup (up to 1 tablespoon) if you want the oatmeal to taste sweeter.
