Crumble Topping (For Oatmeal)

(12 servings)

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup salted butter - softened
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar and softened butter.

Add all other ingredients and mix with clean hands until well combined and clumpy.

Spread mixture onto a baking sheet and bake at 325 for 30 minutes, stirring once mid-way through cooking. Break apart any clusters that are too large.

Mixture will become crisp after it's cooled for several minutes.

Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Sprinkle over hot oatmeal.

* If using unsalted butter, add 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the dry ingredients.

Making Crumble Topping (For Oatmeal)

A great way to add pizzazz to a bowl of oatmeal. Just a little adds a nice crunch and an oatmeal cookie-like flavor.
