Savory Oats

(1 serving)

  • 2/3 cup Old Fashioned or quick-cooking oats
  • 1 and 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
Add all ingredients in a bowl and stir. Then cook the Oat Meal as directed for the Microwave. I like to add some cool water to the mix after it comes out of the microwave; both to cool and thin the mix to be more like a thick soup than the paste that oatmeal sometimes comes out like.

This is a savory version of oatmeal that is good for you without tasting like it. If you like garlic toast, you will like this recipe. You will want to change the amount of each ingredient to suit your own tastes. The salt could be dropped if you are on a salt free diet. I would use a salt substitute or just more of the other ingredients.
