People often submit recipes to the site with the title "best" something or "greatest" something. I usually remove those grandiose claims to keep the recipe title short and descriptive. For this recipe, I've left the word "best", because after trying it, I really believe these are the best chocolate chip waffles I've ever had. The batter makes 10 6-inch waffles. The chocolate chips tend to sink to the bottom of the batter, so give the batter a quick stir before making each waffle. (This recipe was submitted in 2008. It was tested and photographed in May 2014.)

The Best Chocolate Chip Waffles

How To Make The Best Chocolate Chip Waffles

Mix all dry ingredients (including chocolate chips).

Combine yolks and milk. Stir into dry ingredients. Stir in oil and mix. GENTLY fold in beaten egg whites, do not over mix.

Pour about 1/2 cup at a time into waffle iron and cook according to your waffle iron's instructions. You can usually tell they are ready when steam stops coming out of the side of the waffle iron.

Some recipes tell you to sprinkle chocolate chips on the batter in the waffle iron. I find it works better when the chips are blended into the batter.
