2 cups all-purpose flour
-
2 large eggs
-
1 teaspoon vanilla
-
1/2 cup shortening

2 Tablespoon sour milk (or buttermilk)
Mix baking soda with sour milk and set aside. Beat sugar, shortening and eggs together. Add flour and sour milk. Stir in apples. Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
After bread has baked 30 minuted, top with mixture of 2 T butter, 2 T sugar, and 1 tsp cinnamon.
Continue baking another 30 minutes or until bread is done. (I like to double the ingredients of the above mixture).

If you don't have sour milk, make milk sour by adding 1 Tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup sweet milk. I hope that you enjoy this recipe. Just ask my son Greg about how good it is. Enjoy. Bonita Griffin
