Crunchy French Toast in Milk

(1 serving)

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 egg or egg white (depending on how healthy you feel that morning!)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup (I used sugar free)
  • 1 packet of sugar or sugar substitute
  • 1 Tablespoon of milk
Coat griddle or non-stick skillet with butter or spray with Pam.

Mix all ingredients (except the bread) together until combined well.

Dip each piece of bread in mixture and coat both sides before placing them neatly on the griddle or in skillet.

Cook until browned on both sides.

Remove from heat and cut into bite-sized pieces. Place pieces on a paper towel lined plate and put into microwave for about 5 minutes (or until desired crispness is achieved) and stir occasionally to make sure the pieces are evenly crisped.
Serve in bowl with some milk and maybe a smidgen more maple syrup if extra sweetness is needed and enjoy!

This is one of my favorite ways to enjoy French toast! It's really great and has more of an authentic taste than Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal. It sounds like a lot of work but it's worth it, and it makes an awesome healthy snack dry - way more nutritious than chips!
