This is more of a "yes it can be done" recipe than a recipe I'd want to make regularly. It's fun to discover that you can make granola in a slow cooker, but I have to honestly report that granola from the oven is far superior. The flavors coalesse better in the oven and you get a nice browning effect with the oats that never really happens in the slow cooker. While this granola was decent and I did enjoy the bowl you see here, I don't recommend this recipe. This recipe was submitted to the site in 2006. It was tested and photographed in July 2013.4 cups rolled oats (quick or old fashioned)
1 cup bran flakes
1 cup wheat germ
2/3 cup honey
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup vegetable or canola oil
2 Tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon cocoa
1 teaspoon cinnamon

How To Make Crockpot Cocoa Granola

The recipe makes about 5 cups of granola.

Simply, combine all ingredients in the crockpot. Stir gently and cook on LOW heat with the lid slightly ajar for about 4 hours. Give it a stir at least once every hour.

Great with milk as a cereal or plain as a snack. I love my crockpot!
