- 1/2 cup instant oatmeal
-
1 cup milk
-
1/4 cup raisins
-
1/8 cup nuts (crushed or uncrushed)
-
2 Tablespoons sugar or the equivalent of artificial sweetener
The submitter of this recipe said that it tastes like an oatmeal cookie. I somewhat agree with that, however I would replace the regular sugar with brown sugar and stir in just a teaspoon of butter to help complete the illusion. As written here, the recipe is good, but it can be made better with those slight adjustments. I would also recommend that you start with 1 Tablespoon of brown sugar in the recipe and then have extra brown sugar standing by when you eat it. I found this oatmeal just a tiny tad too sweet. But overall, it's a pretty cool recipe. I've always loved that you can get homemade oatmeal from the microwave in minutes. (Recipe submitted in 2006. It was tested and photographed in September 2013.)

How To Make Quick Oatmeal Cookie Oatmeal
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the oatmeal, milk and raisins. Stir together with a spoon.
Microwave on high (stirring every 30 seconds) for 3 to 3 1/2 minutes or until oatmeal is cooked to desired consistency.
Stir in nuts and sugar (or sweetener)
Taste. Add more sugar if desired.
Enjoy!

Note From Recipe Submitter: I use honey roasted peanuts because I often have them in the pantry. If you desire crushed nuts, place the nuts in a small plastic bag and crush with a flat object such as a rubber mallet or sturdy book.

If done properly, this recipe really does taste like an oatmeal cookie. Best of all, it's super fast to make in the microwave.
