Lahori Omelet

Lahori Omelet

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 small onion - chopped
  • 1 green chilli - chopped
  • 1 tomato - diced
  • salt & pepper - to taste
  • 1 teaspoon milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
Heat 1 and 1/2 Tablespoons cooking oil in a frying pan and add chopped onions. Fry till golden brown and then add chopped green chilli followed by diced tomatoes. Fry until tomatoes extract their juice.

Add red chilli powder, salt and pepper. Beat the eggs with the milk and a dash more of salt and pepper. Pour eggs into a separate greased hot frying pan over medium-high heat.

When bottom is set place the tomato and onion mixture over one half and fold. Cook just a little more until the egg is completely set.


Lahore is a city in Punjab, Pakistan where the recipe comes from. Serve the omelet with grilled bread or Indian Parathas if possible.

@Geography M. - Punjab is a state that crosses the border of India and Pakistan. Lahore is a city in the Pakistani half of the region of Punjab. This omelette is my favorite.

Lahore is in Pakistan and Punjab is a state in India. Nice recipe. I left the milk and tomato and used cumin seeds. Tasted great.
