Stuffed French Toast Strata

  • 1 loaf unsliced French bread
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 and 1/2 cups soy milk
  • 6 Tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
Cut French bread loaf into cubes. Spray a 13x9x2 inch baking dish, with nonstick cooking spray.

To assemble: place half of the bread cubes in the prepared baking dish. Top with cream cheese cubes and remaining bread cubes.

In a blender, combine eggs, milk, margarine and maple syrup. Pour over bread and cheese cubes. Using a spatula, press layers down to moisten.

Cover with plastic wrap. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2-24 hours.

Remove plastic wrap from baking dish. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the center appears set and the edges are golden. Let stand 10 minutes to cool and serve.


This is special alternative to traditional French Toast.
