Chocolate Peanut Granola

Chocolate Peanut Granola

(12 servings)    Printable Version
  • 4 and 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup skinless peanuts
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 3/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 3/4 cup applesauce
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Pulse the peanuts briefly in a food processor if you desire smaller pieces.

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix well. Spread the mixture evenly over two rimmed cookie sheets.

Bake for about 1 hour - stirring after 30 minutes - until granola is golden brown. Be sure to check after 45 minutes to prevent burning.

Allow granola to cool completely before serving or storing. Enjoy!

This tasty homemade granola stores well for 10 days in an airtight container. You can use either old fashioned or quick cooking oats.
