Raisin Nut Muesli

Raisin Nut Muesli

(12 servings)    Printable Version
  • 4 and 1/2 cups rolled oats - quick or old-fashioned
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ - toasted
  • 1/2 cup wheat bran
  • 1/2 cup oat bran
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (or pecans)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
Mix all of the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Transfer to an airtight container for storage.

To make individual servings, just transfer desired amount to a bowl and add milk. For a delicious hot cereal, microwave for 2 minutes - stirring once after the first minute. I know that many people also like to mix muesli with yogurt.

One last serving suggestion: If you toast a serving of this muesli in a skillet for a minute or two, it gives it a great earthy, nuttier flavor. And when you add cold milk, the difference in the temperatures is exciting to the mouth.

Stores well in an airtight container for one month.

This is basically the best stuff on earth combined to make a cereal. It's very easy to modify to fit your tastes. Try adding some coconut or replacing the raisins with other dried fruits.
