Croissant French Toast

Croissant French Toast

(4 servings)    Printable Version
  • 4 croissants - cut in half lengthwise
  • 2/3 cup low fat milk
  • 3 large eggs - lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Melt butter in on a skillet or in a large frying pan at medium-high heat.

In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients except croissants. Beat until well combined.

Drag croissants through the mixture and flip until completely coated. Cook about 3 minutes on each side side or until golden brown.

Serve with butter, maple syrup and fresh berries.

So much better than just using plain white bread. Like with regular bread, it's even better if the croissants are a little stale. They absorb more egg mixture that way.

Saw a TV clip of popular Hollywood breakfast restaurant serving croissant French Toast. Went to the bakery outlet and got day old croissants. Found your recipe. Made it this morning for guests. Eureka! Couldn't be better. Thanks.

Thank you. We had some leftover croissants that were so good and buttery last night but were dry this morning. We would have just thrown them out, but this recipe revived them and gave them a whole new, delicious life. If you can't tell by now... I LOVE this recipe.
