![]() Michigan Baked Oatmeal(4 servings) Printable Version
In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Transfer to baking dish. Sprinkle top with additional almonds if desired. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Serve hot. Recipe Note: You can make a variation on this recipe by not using the almond flavoring and cherries. Instead, add 1 Tablespoon of cinnamon, 1/2 cup of raisins and 1/3 cup of coarsely chopped peanuts. There's no cherry like a Michigan cherry! This oatmeal will taste good with dried cherries from any state, but get them from Michigan if you can. This was very yummy! I sprinkled brown sugar over the top of it a couple minutes before it was done and then put it back in the oven to melt the sugar a little. Also, I think next time I'll try adding some cinnamon and maybe nutmeg and a little salt. But my taste buds are kind of beat up so it's probably just me. But it was delicious! Thanks so much for the recipe. Comment submitted: 8/20/2012 (#14308) From healthy brkfst Great tasting and very heart healthy. Comment submitted: 12/6/2009 (#9171) From Mom with 4 boys
I have four boys, and they all love this! I make it at least once a week now. I leave out the sugar in the recipe and we just add butter and sugar to taste when I serve it. My husband inhales this! IT'S WONDERFUL!! Comment submitted: 3/23/2009 (#7824) From B&K Mom
This is phenomenal! I made it this morning for the first time. The house smells like yummy oatmeal cookies, and the rich, creamy oatmeal is such a delightful change from apples and cinnamon! BTW, didn't taste the apple at all (but this Mom is happy that it's in there!). Next time I will just make a half batch as it was more than enough for our 2 6yo daughters and me for breakfast.
