Mega Fast Berry Breakfast Smoothie

(2 servings)

  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berry blend
  • 1/4 cup frozen sliced bananas
  • orange juice to just cover fruit
This recipe was originally submitted under the name "Tim's Ultimate Berry Breakfast Smoothie". I changed the name to better reflect the nature of the recipe. This might be considered more of a good idea than a recipe. The idea is that whenever you have berries around the house, you throw a handful in a baggie and freeze them so that in the future you can make smoothies in a single minute. Once the frozen berries are in the blender, you add just enough juice or milk to cover the berries and blend. It takes no time at all and it's delicious, even though it is a bit a general fruit mish-mash with no particular flavor taking the lead. If you're looking for ways to speed up you breakfast routine, this is something you might want to try. (This recipe was submitted in 2010. Thanks Tim! It was tested and photographed in May 2017.)

How To Make A Mega Fast Berry Breakfast Smoothie

For the mixed berries, use any berries that you like. I personally love a mix of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.

Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth and creamy. Add more orange juice if needed if smoothie is not smooth enough.

Note From Recipe Submitter:
To freeze bananas, you must peel them first. I usually keep a whole bunch of frozen bananas in the freezer for this and other recipes. I get my frozen berry blend in the freezer section of my local grocery store but you could freeze fresh berries as well.

No sugar or ice is needed as all the fruit is frozen. I have this for breakfast a couple days a week. Very refreshing.
