Cream Cheese Breakfast Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ounces cream cheese
  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped green onions - optional
This recipe makes 8 or 9 biscuits.

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in the cream cheese and butter by rolling the ingredients between your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse wet sand. If desired, stir in the green onions.

Add the milk and stir mix until a soft dough forms.

Turn out the dough onto a floured, flat surface. Knead dough 10 times and form into a 1/2-inch thick rectangle. Cut into biscuits with a 3-inch biscuit cutter, Press any left-over dough into the empty body of the biscuit cutter and see if you have enough dough for a bonus biscuit.

On a large, ungreased baking sheet, place the biscuits about 2 inches apart as they will expand when cooking.

Place in the center of the oven and bake 10 to 12 minutes until tops the tops are golden brown.

Serve warm as a side dish with savory breakfast dishes.


An easy, savory breakfast biscuit that's great in place of toast, bagels or English muffins. You can replace the green onion with 2 Tablespoons of fresh herbs.
