Was very interested in going here for their Creole oyster version of an egg Mcmuffin after seeing this on Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives. Very eclectic decor and was fairly busy for a weekday mid-morning. Service was good but had a longer than usual wait for our food. The food itself was very good and reasonably priced.

The owner used to be present, she is such a great server, her usual servers (ones for the past 4 yrs) seem to be gone. Gone is the friendly service with smiles and a warm greeting. Our tall burly waiter woman literally wiped the table next to us off, flinging the food onto the floor (never be to picked it up). When she/he saw us watching, because the table remained dirty, she said "oh, I know you saw that! Here, I’ll wipe it clean”. She then removed that table to make room, and walked through the food on the floor grinding it into the carpet 4 times, while we watched in amazement. The staff fed a homeless man who came in and set him next to the front door. It was nice to feed him, but not usually done during busy times. There was so much old food under each table, and not a single staff person made any attempt to stoop and pick it up. The entire place was so unbelievably dirty.
Our waitress did not bring our coffee. We had to ask someone else after waiting 10 to 15 minutes. Another table got food but no silverware was on the table so they couldn’t eat what was served for another 5 to 8 minutes. The food, well the recipes are the same so it was good. The wait time over 45 minutes for one hamburger (shared). GOOD HEAVEN’S DARBY, WHERE ARE YOU. Your restaurant, which has received wide acclaim, is in ruins. Your old reliable staff seemingly replaced by a hog-pog of disheveled, unfriendly, unprofessional people. The old stains on the staff’s tank tops and greasy dirty pants, made it look like they’d slept in the same clothes for days. If you are on vacation, COME BACK, before all your loyal customers have given up on you.

Best breakfast! Love their specials, eggs benedict, and friendly service. Yes you have to wait, but well worth it. Arrive early on weekends for little or no wait. If you are running later in the day expect 1/2 hour wait on weekends. They will cook 1/2 orders if you would like. Servings are large.

Super friendly service, with a fascinating customer base to chat with. What a very diverse and interesting crowd! Wide range of breakfast selections. Huge portions of well prepared and very tasty food.

Darby's might put some off at first- they have a system for signing in that's at best confusing. There's a sign at the front counter that says, "If you're in a hurry, go to Jack-in-the-Box." You'll have to stand outside until you're called in, and you'll find some snarky comments on the menu, but oh my... when your food comes, you'll be glad you put up with it, and the kitchy Wizard of Oz and tree frog decor will melt away in a haze of pure breakfast bliss. My daughter and I end up spending $25-30 when all told, but that's including her large fresh-squeezed OJ, and the extra side of bacon I just had to have. Hands down... Best Breakfast in Olympia.

This restaurant is THE place to go for breakfast!! It's a place where ANYONE can go and feel welcome AND the food is outstanding with generous servings. Don't expect an elegant surrounding...just a downtown Oly ambiance of diversity and fun. Saturday mornings it's THE place to be so expect a little wait if you arrive after 10am because the place has a good reputation for a great breakfast. Enjoy.

I drive from Tacoma to have breakfast on weekends because Tacoma has no "real good breakfast spots". This is really good!
