Got there right after they opened at 7:00am. Had 4 or 5 tables taken. Completely filled inside by 8:00 although no line had formed yet. The omelet was enormous. I eat a lot but it was really too big. Fresh ingredients with a great taste. Came with side of pancakes which I though had a great flavor but were a little firmer than typical. Service was great. Food came out fast. Coffee stayed filled. The only reason I'm rating it 4 eggs overall is the coffee. Too expensive at $2.95 with a small cup and too weak. The cream came right up and turned the coffee white. Needed an eye-dropper to put the right amount of cream in such a small cup with a watered down brew.

We arrived at 7:55am on a Monday morning and only a couple of tables were occupied. By 8:45 the place was filled and a line was beginning to form. Based on the other reviewers, I would say that timing is important here. The lines are justified, however, since the food was excellent and worth any reasonable wait. ( I do not believe people actually stand in line to get bad food, do they?) Richard Walker's was very good and I did not find a hint of inattentive service. In fact, just the opposite was true. The staff provided great service to go along with the fine breakfast. My wife had an omlette and I had spinach crepes. Both were very good. Do not be put off by the negative reviews elsewhere on Mr. Breakfast. Perhaps those people were just grumpy without their morning coffee? Don't let their reviews put you off.

FANTASTIC PANCAKES & FANTASTIC POTATOE CAKES!!

(tip) >> Get here before 8A! Not a huge place, so if you're not inside before 8A, get ready to line up outside!

Breakfast was outstanding with terrific coffee .. ..

Table next to us ordered omelettes and I could swear it was at least 3" high - omg -

Well worth an early morning walk when you are in the Gaslamp are, or anywhere in Downtown!!

The quality of the food would probably be rated above average but you have to temper your praise of the establishment when you factor in the below average service we experienced. They seemed resentful that we were being seated in the last half hour of breakfast service but we clearly asked if they were closing soon and were told no. I don't like holding anyone up if they are close to closing time...Anyway, there was so much attitude from our waitress when we asked questions about the menu that we almost left before we even started. As usual, it looked like the bussers were the only ones working their tails off while the wait staff stood behind the small wall and chit chatted away, ignoring their customers need for refills, etc.

I was going to give them a second chance by visiting earlier in the morning but was turned off by the long line. I have to assume that the line occurs because of the sparsity of breakfast venues in that area, not because of the any outstanding, must-have fare...

Maybe I'll try again...

Great tasting breakfast. Had 2 eggs, 4 long strips of thick bacon and 3 pancakes. The syrup with the pancakes was like a warm maple/butterscotch toffee - wow. Service was very friendly. All in all a wonderful eating experience

I came into the San Diego location yesteday. I was amazed at the very freindly atuitudes of all the staff. Very welcomed. The coffee is the finest I've ever tasted anywhere. A long line was there when I arrived. It moved very quickly for a Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. Under 10 minutes wait. Our server recommended the Apple pancake and South West Omette. Both to die for! Even the bathroom was stunning and very clean. (Important to me!) I highly recomend this restuant in downtown San Diego.

The coffee is the best i've had. the waffle sucked- had a sour cream tart kind of taste and the hash browns were just ok. The banana pancakes were excellent and i would go back for those. The service was absolutely terrible and the wait is long due to minimal seating. The corned beef hash was good.

Their omelets are excellent, they are baked! They also do special requests such as an omelet with egg whites only and they make it very tasty. The wait staff is wonderful, always checking on you but not bothering you. It gets very busy as the establishment is small so get there early

I've enjoyed the Walker family from there many Pancakes Houses in the North West suburbs of Chicago. If having the best breakfast is important to you, it is only a matter of time until you make it to RICHARD WALKER'S PANCAKE HOUSE in downtown San Diego. Get there early !
