They changed from G/M Steakhouse to the Counter Cafe a while ago. It's a great place to have breakfast with friends. The standouts on the menu for me are their custom Eggs Benedict with pastrami (interesting flavor - more places should try making that) and their pancakes with honey butter. Everybody that works there is friendly. I get the impression that the owners must treat to employees pretty well, because everybody seems genuinely happy.

G/M Steakhouse is your typical classic diner. But this is the real deal. It's downtown, not too busy and the food is what'll bring you back. The original owner still works behind the counter and he'll come over and shoot the breeze with you as you have breakfast. Breakfast is exactly as it should be... eggs any way you want 'em, ham or bacon, homemade hash browns, two triangles of buttered toast, grits (if you're into that), and fresh coffee. The best part is, breakfast is served any time of day. If you're in Austin and you love breakfast, G/M Steakhouse is a must.
