You should note on your page that the full name is "Los Angeles Police Revolver & Athletic Club Cafe" - pretty long, I know. Anyway, this place is AWESOME. Everything about it OLD-SCHOOL. From the food to the decor to the prices. If eating around cops makes you nervous, you should avoid it, because that's 75% of the customers. To me, I felt like I was in an old episode of Kojack or Columbo. The food was alright... just standard greasy spoon breakfast stuff cooked pretty well. This is a place you go more for the atmosphere and the vibe. It's just a bonus that the food is pretty good.

Okay, this sounds weird and yes it may be the strangest setting and decor in the country for a coffee shop but the LAPD Police Acdemy has one of the best breakfast joints in the city. Located in the base of what was Chavez Ravine, the coffee shop is housed inside the police academy where rookies get their training and officers enjoy the pool and the uhh...shooting range: you may be hearing rifles hitting targets as you eat your eggs. Comfy booths, lots of stainless steel, two u-shaped counters with stools, and on the walls: vintage photos of the LAPD, antique handcuffs, and a giant billy club, just some of the highlights.

But the real star is the breakfast, great service and the good coffee. I haven't been there since they opened the Starbucks 'COPacino' bar, but the old drip coffee they served before worked for me.

The cafe is only opened weekdays M-F.
