I have to say the only reason it does not get a perfect rating is because of the waitresses. They're not rude, they're certainly not happy, but they are indifferent. When you're a regular that leaves better than 20% tips a small indication of friendliness would be nice. They are stone cold, another reviewer used the term grim-faced, a perfect description! At least the last time we were there the hostess was very welcoming.

Moody Waitress. I think she was drunk, she had a strong odor. I will never go back.

I wrote a review here on 2/23/09 where I complained about the waitresses, and they're still a problem. I had lunch at CKD with a friend yesterday and not one waitress smiled at us and one of them wordlessly put down our plates in front of us when the food was ready. No one ever came back to see if we needed more iced tea, and one waitress, grim-faced, laid the check on our table near the end of our meal without a word. When I've had breakfast there, I've always had to try to catch a waitress's eye to get a coffee refill. The food is pretty decent, but anymore, I think twice before going there due to the waitresses' attitudes. They're not quite surly, but they sure look and seem unhappy.

We waited two hours for our food. The table was also dirty. When we kindly asked to why our food was late and the table unclean, I was told that they were very busy and to be patient. The waitress never asked about refills or if our food was fine. All we wanted was hot food and average attention. Maybe it was the waiter but it was not worth a two hour wait.

they have the best coffee, service is fast and always consistent. The best part is that they will make anything you order, even if its not on the menu. never had scrambled eggs made the way they should be until i came here. the weekends are busy so go early but even if u dont, its well worth the wait..you wont go any other breakfast ever again.

I'm glad they're open again too, but I really don't get some of these comments. The specials were better before. The old people were nice enough when I was there, and the new people are too except for one time when the stress level of the owner and one of the waitresses was out of control and you could hear it everywhere! Weird, but where else in Doylestown can you get a decent breakfast? We need more places with real food like that.

Having been to some local breakfast joints(Doylestown and Buckingham), Cross Keys Diner ranks the best.I've been a patron for some years and it's better than ever. I LOVE the waitresses, they give you that feeling that you are family, not fake by any means. Did I metion how good the food is? Spinach, goat cheese & tomato omelet is my fav.!...Great service.

I love their breakfasts and am glad they kept the quality the previous owners aspired to. But a couple of the waitresses who are still there who worked under the previous owners are not very friendly. We've always tipped well but noticed the tips are pooled together so perhaps there is less motivation to be friendly. And I almost always have to get a waitress's attention to get more coffee. I don't know if they're friendlier and more attentive to men and to the more regular customers or what. Because of a few of the waitress's attitudes, I probably wouldn't be back so often if it wasn't for the great food.

I hate to get sentimental, but when Cross Keys closed I felt like I lost an old friend. It's tough to see a local business bite the dust--especially when the food and people make the place feel like home. Having said that, the new owners have given the old place a shot in the arm. The coffee is still great but the food is--forgive me Steve and Ann--even better. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, same as it ever was. My old friend is back!

Cross Keys Diner is the BEST!!! Everything about the place is great. The food is delicious, the wait staff is on the ball and friendly, and the overall atmosphere is charming. You get the that right at home feeling the minute you walk in. We were so happy that it reopened and although the food was always good, the new additions to the menu are definitely worth trying, especially the quiche.

The portions are huuugggeeeeee and this place SO needed to open back up. If I went to Perkins one more time i was gonna puke. The last owner made good food but was totally crazy, the new folks Paul and Andrea are awesome awesome awesome, the food has gotten even better and the coffee is EXCELLENT and limitless. It was like I was back in guatemala, no cream for me this time, you gotta gotta gotta go to the new cross keys, it's worth every penny.

Cross Keys offers many qualities;

It's clean (I see and love that)!
The service and staff are wonderful, attentive, happy and 'on the spot'.
The food is great and some of what you would expect from an 'upscale' diner.
The diners 'specials' are gourmet like, well thought of, well desplayed and very delicious!
Soups are awesome, my college kids crave them.

It's tops on my list!
A place where I take my out of town guests.
It's friendly, like home....comfortable.

Did I mention clean!

Cross Keys lays on a good feed in the morning, the coffee comes without you asking...and it's gooood coffee! Great food, and the place is clean, cheery, and well-finished without being over-decorated. Service is top-notch. Prices are about average for the area. Chipped beef is where I usually wind up here. And it's NOT A CHAIN; big plus in my book.
