The restaurant has reopened under new management. As promised, nothing has changed, except that the waiters no longer wear kilts. Also, they have new coffee mugs, which all match, unlike the previous eclectic heap. The new mugs are still huge.

I overheard the manager discussing a charitable donation the store was making...

This restaurant is closed temporaily, while its sale is being negotiated. According to the newspaper, it is expected to reopen in mid-November. The buyer says he plans to make no major changes, but the waiters will no longer be required to wear kilts.

(The dollar signs, coffee cups, and eggs above mean nothing. I had to put something in, or the computer wouldn't allow me to proceed).

As you enter, you pick up an enormous ceramic mug from the stack, and you help yourself from any of the eight or ten coffeemakers along the wall. You go back as often as you like, though I was able to consume only one and a half big cups of their special blends of coffee.

I ordered oatmeal and a side of sausage links. The oatmeal came in a gigantic but shallow bowl. I was given brown sugar and a whole teapot of milk which had been heated and whipped (to the extent that low-fat milk would whip). The sausages were big and fat and crisp.

The place also has perfectly respectable bacon, sausage patties, eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes, waffles, "scottish" toast, and a large selection of scones, bagels, chocolate cake, pastries, etc. A large sign warns that all food is cooked to order, so it will take twenty minutes. Don't expect fast service.

There is a brunch buffet on Sunday, but I haven't tried it yet.

The decor is yuppie-coffeeshop; the waiters all wear kilts. Smoking is permitted outside only, at wooden tables and chairs under a huge canvas canopy. (Columbus' new anti-smoking ordinance won't go into effect until some time in September, but this establishment is already in compliance).

Note--There is another Scottie MacBean, farther up High Street in Worthington. It's open for breakfast, but it has only bagels, pastries and a zillion things to drink; no eggs, pancakes, or similar real food.

Do it yourself refills of many coffees.
The only place where all the waiters and waitresses wear kilts. My sisters love that part of the decore. If you wear in a kilt, you get a discount on your food.
Great pastries.
