Breakfasts are consistently excellent. The chorizo omelette is definitely my favorite. Everything is fresh and the side dish of fresh fruit is unmatched.

Liked Rex's. A lot.
Somebody's running this place right. The help is genuinely friendly and sensitive to customers. None of that fake, trailer trash friendliness exhibited in recent visits to Gaffey Street Diner and Omlette and Waffle.
They bring you excellent, hot coffee if you have to wait, which you may because they're small. It's worth the wait, folks.
Food is very good and multiple, occasionally out of the ordinary choices.
Coffee - frequent ,tasty, and hot.
Waitress and bussers - genuine and patient and good humor.
We've been to eight different breakfast places in Long Beach and Pedro on the week end over the last two months. Rex's is tentatively my favorite. I'll retest it and I hope it repeats it's first performsnce. Nothing I've seen in Pedro yet matches it. We'll not go back to Gaffety Street Diner, Omlette and Waffle. We started into Pacific Diner, whcih our friends recommended and appears popular, but didn't like the patio only, cafeteria long table seating on a cool Saturday morning. It'll have to go some to match Rex's further up Pacific.
In Long Beach, Omlette Inn downtown on Pine is comparable. Eggs, Etc ain't bad.
And, we're ok with The Coffee Cup and The Potholder, but need to give them a second try to be sure.
BUT - we'll go back to Rex's and I expect we'll still be happy about it. So far, it's my favorite breakfast spot with Omleete Inn a close second.

Can you say big? Well you could and would if you saw the size of the pancakes served at Rex's. I like to go to this spot to refill after a good morning run or when ever I want a tasty and healthy breakfast. My favorite side is their brown rice. They also have good muffins. Staff is friendly and the wait is rarely that long...if at all.

Best pancakes in San Pedro---- but be warned...ONE pancake is usually more than enough. It is the size of a dinner plate. I usually prefer the silver dollar size, but their batter is so good, I go for the pancakes every time I'm there. Great syrup too. Rex's is a treasure for breakfast lovers in or visiting LA's South Bay area. And if pancakes aren't your thing, their homemade granola is amazing. As for the other typical breakfast things I've tried, they are just fine, but not so obviously outstanding like the cakes and granola. So if you visit Rex's....go for it!

Great food. Good selection. Huge pancakes!!! Nice atmosphere. Kid friendly.
We had to park on the street and deal with the panhandlers on the way to the restaurant, but it was worth it.

Ive been going to Rex's for years now.... havent been in a few yrs since Ive left st. pete..... but used to go down there a few times a week for breakie. (was easy when I lived at 39th at Gaffey. The Breakies were great, the coffee was good. I just hope they improved their loo facilities.. ie bathrooms. love the lending library on the walls. Ive introduced many a foreigners to Rex's. The food rocks, the coffee is good and hot and love the service.

Healthy food restaurant with generous portions. Patio dining available in an eclectic and friendly enviornment. Terrific staff!

I like the cozy environment. Nice and pleasant. That is why I come back when I can.
I live in the City of Hawthorne and I have a friend that lives in the City of San Pedro and I always want to stop by and enjoy my rest at Rex's.
