Mike's Ham & egg breakfast is like no other. The split pea soup is the best I've ever eaten & the huge ham sandwich ... wow! it's 2 meals in 1.

The ham here is as good as you'd ever have at Sunday dinner, and the soup is even BETTER than mother used to make! Guess again if you think that "soup and sandwich" is a light lunch! On a main street but in an industrial part of town, this is a spot not usually frequented by tourists, but well worth the effort to locate. Make sure everybody loves ham, because as the name implies, that's what this place is all about!

I have ate at Mike's many times and found the food to be very good, nice place for Ham carved right off the bone. Another great place is Mr. Brewstirs 25077 Ecorse Rd. Taylor MI 48180 they feature Dearborn Brand ham and serves alot of food. Mike's and Mr. Brewstirs are two great places for breakfast and lunch.

We are a retired couple and after eating in Mike's Ham Place many, many times, we decided, by far, it's the BEST breakfast/lunch we've ever had in all of our travels throughout the US. My wife's brother who lived in, Novi, MI, introduced us to Mike's Ham Place five or six years ago and although he passed away two years ago, we have carried on the tradition of making it a point of eating at Mike's as often as we can while visiting in the Detroit area. Once you've eaten in Mike's......you'll return again and again! Mike and his wife, make you feel like you're "one of the family". The ham is "superb" and the pea soup is something you'd "die for"! The chunks of ham in the soup is a meal in itself. We're only sorry we live in New York and are not able to enjoy the experience of eating at Mike's on a regular basis. You won't be sorry! Enjoy!

I took my Mother & Mother-law here for Mothers Day and they LOVED it. Simplicity reigns supreme here. Just 4 entrees & just ham w/ each.

For a great combination of price & value, this is the place.

If you live, breathe, dream, sleep on and die for ham, then Mike's Famous Ham Place is for you. The building itself is a smallish triangular joint typically reserved for slider burger joints, and the the decor is as unassuming as its name. They're all about the ham, and it shows.

Once inside, you're greeted by several stools placed at a cozy distance from one another, and a menu absolutely free of any complexity whatsoever. In fact, if you have trouble with Mike's menu, there's a very strong chance you shouldn't be ordering food for yourself. Have dad do it for you.

They have eggs and toast. With ham.

They have bean soup. With ham.

They have split pea soup. With ham.

They have a ham sandwich. With a slice of ham on top, because, you know, you can't ever have enough ham.

In fact, the only things Mike's serves that don't have ham are the drinks (thank God), and the pies (thank God again). For everything else, you best like ham, and lots of it.

Whether you're a near-religious ham zealot -- the kind who wears a cardboard pig suit to work and oinks at passers-by -- or the type who only eats it at Easter, don't deprive yourself of a true Detroit landmark by ignoring Mike's. You'll enjoy the interesting landmark appeal of the place, and nowhere else will you see or hear the word HAM as often as you will here. And it's a good thing, not bad. For real.

One last thing: ham.

The simplicity speaks volumes: Ham or Ham! We went at lunch and covered the entire menu with our 4 person group. I had the Ham Sandwich which was stacked with at least 1/2lbs of pork delight. Others had the HAM with eggs (eggs covered by a fan of, yes, you guessed it, more HAM. Make sure you get a bowl of soup with ... more HAM. Split Pea or Bean -- they were both great.

Locals have enjoyed this place for years. They've been cooking it up since 1974. Simple and just good. Enjoy!

If you are a lover of ham and eggs for breakfast, try Mike's. They put eggs in the middle of the plate and surround them with eight plus thick slices of ham just carved off the bone. Breakfast served from 6am until 1:30pm. They close at 3pm. Other than a fantastic breakfast, they serve up bowls of split pea or bean soup loaded with chunks of ham and ham sandwiches with have nearly three quarters of a pound of ham on each. A former White Castle, only ten stools with counters along the window to stand at. Place is clean as a whistle with plenty of parking.
