I have visited this establishment many times and I have almost always had a positive experience. There have been times I have visited only to find the restaurant closed for some reason. So they must have wacky hours that are not advertized on the windows. The food is usually outstanding and I find that I recieve better service from the staff in the evening hours. Just a couple of days ago a gentleman named Lucky waited on us. I was glad to see that a new face of management had appeared in this establishment. He was constantly on the on the go catering to 8 or more tables at at time and had a plesant and fun attitude. During one of my visits on a Sunday afternoon the food we received was undercooked and the cook that prepared it was dressed as if he had just busted out of prison. I really dont think that someone dressed this way should appear where people are eating "big appetite killer"!!! However when I brought my undercooked hamburgers four of them to be exact to Lucky's attention he immediatley took care of it and made it right for us. During our day visits I sometimes notice the owner lurking around the restaurant and really making the customers feel unconfortable while thy are eating. All in all great place to dine in St. Pete.

"What a sad lot of comments"!! I have just returned from the US St Petes and I find it hard to believe people have such a very low opinion of this diner. I called in a few times on my travels, especially for a good English breakfast as many yanks don't have the faintest idea of what that is. Have they ever stepped outside their back yards and experienced europe and what it offers to make a comparison? "Don't thinks so"!! As a Brit I can recommend their food and their service. Come to the UK for brekkie and don't expect a refill or less you pay for it. "But heh you can always visit home from home", processed junk from Mc Donalds. Thankyou starlite for a typical English fry up I commend you on it. From a satisfied customer.

Terrible experience. Makes me look forward to a root canal at the dentist.
I had to keep getting up and interrupting the waitress who was being lectured by the owner.
I hope he was lecturing her on the lack of cleanliness, dried out (overcooked) omlet, and total lack of service.

Mediocre food in a dirty atmosphere with sullen servers.
Owner 'hovers' and won't let you have a conversation without his butting in.

I do not agree with the last comment made by the person called Joe. I've been there several times a year when visiting the beaches and have yet to find myself dissatisfied with the service, food or any other aspect associated with this Diner. I do agree with the first few comments made about this place as I've encountered the same type of experiences, especially the Anglo Feast breakfast as I had to try it out over sheer curiosity and to make a change for a big breakfast.
I feel that it's a shame the literacy and 'so-called' experience of one person may cloud others judgement's of a place like this.
I just wish others would take the trouble to input their thoughts upon visiting eating establishments to help all others find better places to eat out and share their views with others.

THIS PLACE WAS THE WORST. AFTER WAITING FOR 10 MINUTES FOR A MENU, WHICH I HAD TO GET MYSELF AND 40 MINUTES FOR OUR MEAL, THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE. THE BREAD WAS STALL, THE HAMBURGER WAS DRY AND THE SECOND BUN WAS JUST A BAD. I WOULDN'T RECOMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

The STARLITE DINER is the place I was waiting for. A place where I can actually get great Breakfasts.
The best Breakfast I've tried is the "Anglo Feast" an English-type breakfast that has 2 Eggs (any style), Sausage or Bacon, a Potato Cake that has a crispy piece on each side where it's put on the griddle, sautéed Mushrooms, and a steak Tomato that's cut in half and sautéed on the griddle and complimented by an English Muffin, and that is certainly a feast to be getting on with. All their food is great value and most importantly great tastin'.
Their Coffees are great as they use coffee beans freshly ground for every carafe of Coffee made including Decaf all put in a large tall mug (small are available) but no need to keep calling the waitress's for more refills.
A plus point is that it's the cleanest place I've been to, even when looking in the kitchen (which is quite easy) and the restrooms are better than 'home from home' They even have a Sanitizer for the toilet seat !! That's how conscious they are of health and hygiene.
I hear people say that their waffles n' hotcakes are the best around, but I just think all their food is the best around, even their burgers, onion rings, "Blue Plate Specials", Diner favorites and their home made ice cream milkshakes. I need no longer go searching for a great place to eat. Their menu has lot's of great choices.
They serve BREAKFAST All Day until close. They open at 7am, 7 days a week, 364 days a year.
