There are at least 100 places in Madison that serve just as adequate breakfast fare for less money. Nothing spectacular here. Weak coffee, cold, dry pancakes, unexceptional syrup, flavorless sausage.

On the plus side, the atmosphere was nice and clean, the staff was friendly, and service was ok.

However, I cannot recommend this breakfast unless you want to spend above average prices to eat average portions at below average quality.

The Pancake Cafe was a great find! We wandered off the highway and found a gem! The food was excellent, a bit higher than some of the other options out there, but the portions were huge, the ingredients fresh, the environment refreshing. I thoroughly enjoyed my pancakes, as well as sampling from those of my breakfast companions.
A must try for all!

Depending on who your server is...the service is good. I guess because our party has had 2 babies and 1 toddler each time (and between 4 and 6 adults), the coffee/water refills tend to be forgotten.

The food is generally of very good quality. I do find that $8+ is a bit pricey for some of the items. But I have never left there feeling hungry either...

This is a great place for breakfast. The service is prompt and friendly and the food....well I have yet to find an item I don't like. I'm still working my way through the menu. The Pancake Cafe has become a weekly stop for family and friends. Fresh squeezed orange juice beats consentrate every time. Please do not take my word for it...check it out for yourself...you will not be dissapointed.

Pancake Cafe is a great place to take your kids. The service is great. I loved the fact that the whole place is non-smoking. We were told the wait would be 15 minutes and it was half the time if that. The servers were very friendly and accomodating. I enjoyed every bit of my meal as did everyone at my table. Have the apple pancake...or the chocolate chip pancakes mmmm mmmm they were good. They also have fish fry on Fridays...Cant wait to go back!! This is a great place I highly recommend this clean, fast, great food restaurant!!!

Best breakfast and service in town..... They always use fresh toppings, not like some others ( winter time others buy fruit out of a can)Pancake Cafe never does this.... Anyone can buy maple syrup from a box!!! Pancake Cafe makes syrup fresh daily! It is packed, but worth the wait!

The service was horrible...but WORST OF ALL...they do not serve real maple syrup. How can a pancake house get away with this? Also, they are a total rip-off of the OPH (which is excellent in EVERY way). PH service and food do not even compare...OPH all the way!

I have been to the Pancake Cafe' for breakfast and lunch and enjoied the food and the service everytime.

The baked omlettes are incredible and the serving is perfect. The bacon....WOW...the bacon is thick and cooked to perfection.

For lunch...I had to have the BLT served on thick toasted sourdough with potato salad (of course) It's all about the bacon....lol

If you go on a weekend for brunch...get there early to beat the crowd. Or just be relax and read the paper. The wait has never been all that long and diffinatly worth the wait.

The managers and service staff are prompt and friendly...
