"(They) have a sort of Rat Pack ease but without the Rat Pack meanness. They're fun to watch, fun to listen to..."

-- Wenzel Jones, Back Stage West

"They tend to do in a more modest way to Irving Berlin what Thelonious Monk did to swing... this pair can not be reproduced."

-- Robert Koehler, Los Angeles Times

"...among the wittiest vaudeville duos I can remember. Their renditions of such songs as "Oops I Did It Again" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" actually improved on the originals."

    -- Kristan Ginther, LA Weekly

Bio

Ed Vs Pete is a modern (post-punk) vaudeville duo based in Los Angeles. The pair consists of Eddy Chavey (vocals & guitar) and Pete Punito (vocals, shakers, kazoo & song interpretation). The act began in 1999. While playing drunken peasants in a production of Strindberg's "Miss Julie", Chavey and Punito found they shared a strong affinity for old-school buddy songs and the great showmen of the Sinatra era. The two immediately began writing songs together.

In 2002, the duo (playing as Natural Phenomenon Ocean) headlined a two month run of the acclaimed (L.A. Weekly Pick Of The Week) vaudeville review "Sideshow" at the James Whitmore Theater. In 2004-05, Ed Vs Pete can be seen at Masquers Cabaret, The Artist's Salon and other "lounge" venues.

Sunday afternoons often find the guys busking on the streets of Larchmont Village or Hollywood.

Ed Vs Pete Reviews: ...among the best vaudeville duos I can remember. - LA Weekly Pick of the Week. The evening ends with Ed Vs Pete - two men who sing and play with an easy, natural charm. Eddy Chavey (on guitar) and Italian Pete Punito have a sort of Rat Pack ease but without the Rat Pack meanness. They're fun to watch, fun to listen to, and if you like them, really like them, their CD is available in the lobby. - Backstage West.
