Cereals from
Arrowhead Mills
Arrowhead Mills According to the company's website, Arrowhead Mills was founded over 40 years ago in a tin roofed building in the Texas panhandle by Frank Ford. Frank believed synthetic pesticides and herbicides weakened crop varieties, broke down resistance to disease and pests, and ultimately, polluted the food chain. He put his life savings down on a tractor and set out to farm organically grown corn and wheat. With a stone mill he ground his harvest and delivered it to local stores from the back of his pick up truck. As word spread about organic farming, health stores from Boston to San Francisco began ordering stock from Arrowhead Mills.

It took seven years for Arrowhead Mills to turn a profit and on the company's tenth anniversary with enough funds secured from outside investors, Arrowhead Mills built its current facility in Hereford, Texas. Over time the brand has added beans, seeds, hot and cold cereals, pancake & waffle and cake & brownie mixes and nut butters - extending the product line across many food categories.

In 1999, The Hain Celestial Group, one of the largest natural and organic food companies in the United States, purchased Arrowhead Mills. The company that had started off in a small tin roofed building had grown to a 20-acre site with office, manufacturing, lab, warehouse, and grain storage facilities. The product line that started with just 2 products in 2 package sizes now had over 220 SKUs.

Although the company has grown considerably, Arrowhead Mills maintains that it still upholds the principles it was founded on, still purchasing many ingredients locally from original suppliers, and with a product line that is made with organic ingredients.
