Body Buddies
From: General Mills
Introduced in 1983 During it's short time on earth, Body Buddies was promoted as a healthy cereal for kids. Four seemingly-healthy cartoon children were shown on the box cover and this team is presumed to be mascots known as The Body Buddies. They were shown with sporting equipment to further promote the cereal's image as a healthy breakfast option. The cereal pieces resembled those from the much better known Kix cereal. They were ball shaped with a light tan coloring. The taste of the cereal has been described by many as similar to Kix with more sweetness. Body Buddies came in two varieties: Natural Fruit Flavor and Brown Sugar & Honey. There have been rumors on the internet that a maple variety was also made, but these rumors appear to be unsubstantiated. Trivia: A box of Body Buddies can be seen in the 1986 movie Manhunter in a scene where the character Will Graham (played by William Peterson) walks through a grocery store. Known Premiums: Body Buddies Two-Sided Puzzle and One of Four Body Buddies Mini-Computers. Click here to see all cereals from General Mills. Body Buddies Cereal Theater

I feel that they should put Body Buddies back on the market. They should have never ever taken it off the market. Bring it back! Bring it back!- Renea Ross-Roberts of Winston Salem, N.C. Comment submitted: 2/25/2013 (#11016) By Kristi J

I have a vague memory of trying the brown sugar flavor in an orange-brown box. Kinda like Kix, but much better since Kix is pretty flavorless. Comment submitted: 6/6/2011 (#5011) By drumma_gurl (Team Breakfast Member)
OMG, I soooo loved this cereal. I remember the day my mom told me it was discontinued, I was so crushed, that yes, I shed tears. What can I say, it was great cereal! They don't make 'em like they used :( Comment submitted: 5/9/2011 (#4805) By Zaxxon
I was just on another site reading about Donkey Kong Crunch (after watching vintage youtube videos of ColecoVision's Zaxxon) which suddenly brought me back to my youth in the early 80's befor I became a musician and forgot about the fun stuff we had. lol! I always ask people if they had this cereal thinking I wasn't the only one who LOVED it. The people I'd ask would look at me like I was on fire with that 'you're kidding look'. They NEVER experienced this awesome breakfast cereal! You haven't lived unless this was in your bowl at least once in your life. Like Carrie said, like Kix, but better. The box was loaded with games and kewl mail away premiums. I need to write a book. Those were the best times EVER! Long live the memories! Comment submitted: 4/5/2011 (#4277) By Carrie
This is the only cereal I vividly remember from my childhood. I recall they were like Kix but sweeter and my mom would get them for me because she didn't like me adding sugar to my Kix. I wouldn't add sugar to Body Buddies because they were sweet enough as they were. I remember doing the puzzles on the back of the box while eating and I seem to recall having a jigsaw puzzle with an image of the box front. I remember being sad when Body Buddies were no longer available. Comment submitted: 4/3/2011 (#4260) View all 21 comments for this cereal. |
