Sugar Stars
From: Kellogg's

The complete name of this cereal was Frosted Sugar Stars, although the word "frosted" usually appeared so small that it was considered a description and not a part of the name. The cereal was described on the box as "sugar toasted oats." Mascots for the cereal included Huckleberry Hound and Hillbilly Goat.

The name was eventually shortened to just Stars. See Caramel Flavored Stars Cereal.

Company Description: Kellogg's was originally founded as the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company in 1906. The company's founder Will Keith Kellogg is credited with inventing corn flakes along with his brother John Harvey Kellogg. The company was renamed the Kellogg Company in 1922... I loved them as a kid, when they were called Sooty's Sugar Stars! There was also Sweep's Coco Pops, and Sue's Ricicles.

My mouth waters at the very memory of them. Probably my all-time favorite cereal. Puffa Puffa Rice was bloomin' nice too!

I remember a commercial for Sugar Stars featuring Huckleberry Hound and a smaller lookalike relative of his called 'Nervous Ernest'. Unlike the supremely confident Huckleberry, Ernest was very timid and continually expecting disaster to befall him. He insisted on calling the product 'Lucky Stars' since he believed they protected him from misfortune. Sugar Stars was an oat cereal like Cheerios or Post Alpha- Bits. Eventually they dropped the word 'Sugar' from the name, maybe sometime in the 1970s when the public started to believe that added sugar was unhealthy.

BRING THEM BACK! When I enjoyed them they had SOOTY on the UK packets and you got free plastic figurines of Sooty, Sweep & Soo inside as free gifts. HAPPY days!

My favorite cereal as a young boy. I would so love to be able to try them just one more time. I know their flavor and texture would take me 50 years back in time.

I adored these as a child. I remember these flying off the shelves and our local supermarkets were always running out of stock. Please bring them back Kellogg's :(

Loved them. Sadly, my teeth are now in too bad of shape to enjoy them if they returned.

I wish they would bring these back again too. I loved them as a child but was rationed how much I could eat. Now, I could eat them to my hearts content if they ever came back. I actually thought they were called All-stars but memory plays tricks on you when you get older. Please Kellogg's - bring them back if you are reading this.

Sugar Stars were my favorite cereal as a young boy. When production stopped, my Mother wrote to the company. They replied that they had a manufacturing problem where there was too much waste and broken stars in each packet. I can remember being very upset about this.
