Sugar Pops Pete
Sugar Pops Pete

Sugar Pops Pete was a prairie dog pup who began shelling Sugar Pops cereal in 1959. Pete was the sheriff of a small Western town where he kept law and order with his "sugar popper" pixie-stick pistol.

A blast of sugar from his gun would "sweeten-up" criminals. On cereal boxes, it also appeared that Pete used his pistol to sweeten Sugar Pops.

I ordered that six-shooter 'just like Wild Bill's.' I can still remember opening the package. It was blue plastic. I felt like Ralphie when he decoded his first secret message from Little Orphan Annie.

This is still my favorite of all my favorite cereals. The one and only. But the price is too much money these days. But I still like them anyway.

When were Sugar Pops shut down? That sweet corn taste and the nuggets with a sugary glaze was a big part of my childhood.

I was in a Kellogg's Sugar Pops commercial riding my horse. Filmed in Colorado in 1972. How do I find pictures of this commercial? - Stephanie

If they made Sugar Pops gluten-free again, they would see a big surge in sales.
