Introduced in 1965 A... is for Apple J... is for Jacks Cinnamon, toasty Apple Jacks This cereal has been described on the box as a "ready-sweetened apple & cinnamon flavored cereal" and an "apple-cinnamon coated cereal". More recent boxes have called Apple Jacks a "crunchy sweetened three-grain cereal with apple & cinnamon." When this cereal first came out, TV commercials (and cereal boxes) featured a walking, talking apple in a bow tie named Apple Jack. In one ad, Apple Jack encounters a little boy with no energy who "can't keep up" with his friends. Apple Jack offered the following jingle to help the kid out: (You need) New Kellogg's Apple Jacks Apple good for breakfast or snacks Cinnamon toasty... apple tasty (made with real apple bits!) A bowl a day gives you energy to play. Company Description: Kellogg's was originally founded as the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company in 1906. Apple Jacks don't taste the same since they added the green color. Bring back just the plane old orange rings. Comment submitted: 2/20/2013 (#10919) By Postman
The new variety of Apple Jacks called Cinnamon Jacks are very good. They are shaped like jacks. Comment submitted: 2/11/2013 (#10740) By Steve SC
I am saddened that there are more orange jacks than green... Comment submitted: 2/8/2013 (#10680) By Dorthywaters (Team Breakfast Member)
I think that Apple Jacks is a good kind of cereal to eat for breakfast. It tastes real good. My kids and I will always love Apple Jacks for breakfast. Comment submitted: 11/28/2012 (#10041) By markuka85 (Team Breakfast Member)
Where did the flavor go? I used to eat these constantly in the 70's, and they had a sweet, fruity and spicy flavor. I just bought a box to relive old memories, and they were almost completely tasteless; like eating plain Cheerios without the oat flavor. No wonder Kellogg's is losing market share. I really love this cereal & to be honest, I don't taste "apple" or "cinnamon" in this cereal. That's okay though - I'll still continue to buy them. (myemptycanvasreviews.blogspot.com) Comment submitted: 6/21/2012 (#8127) By andyfjr51 (Team Breakfast Member)
Paul Frees was the voice of the original Apple Jacks mascot. He also did the Pillsbury Doughboy and Bozo cartoons.
