I think German pancakes are not using milk in the recipe... in Southern Germany they only use eggs, flour, salt and beer. No milk, no sugar... great taste, and its a real dinner or a supper.

Try the alternate recipe right under the recipe. It is much better than this one.

Simple and good with powdered sugar and lemon juice. Not my all-time favorite, but definitely satisfying.

Almost like my Ahna's. She used a little more milk to make them very thin. It was perfect for a Lenten Friday dinner!

Just had some of these with my friends from Germany (and they were very good!!!). They said that left overs are typically sliced into ribbons and put into broth for a soup next day. Another variation they enjoy is scrambling this mix and combining it with (scrambled?) egg and eating with powdered sugar on top. I haven't tried these variations, but they're authentic!

I love making german pancakes, my aunt taught me how, but instead of putting a slice of lemon, sugar and jelly, just rub it with butter, spread powdered sugar on it and pour a bit of lemon juice on it and fold it in half and do it again. I PROMISE IT IS WONDERFUL thats the best way to do it!!!

Quite nice, but I reccommend using self-raising flour, as an alternative to all the eggs.

These pancakes turned out great the first time I made them. If you think they were bad, maybe you didn't follow the recipe correctly.

Try the recipe for German Oven Pancakes. The proportions work a little better.

I agree with Maria. This is just a basic recipe and it worked out fine for us. We had apple butter on them and they were very good.

Obviously Alice did something wrong because these are the best pancakes ever! For a more fluffy pancake I would recommend beating the eggs first until they are light and fluffy, and then add the rest of the ingredients.

Just wasted lots of eggs, milk, sugar and flour on a worthless recipe downloaded from your site - german pancakes. Thanks loads.
